Reta Fox, 96, Williamsburg, died Tuesday, June 14, 2011, at the English Valley Care Center, North English. Private family services and burial will be held at a later date.

The Rev. Kirk Statler will officiate. Musical selections will include “Amazing Grace,” “In The Garden” and “Precious Lord, Take My Hand.” Soloist will be Coleton Tompkins and organist will be Carol Behounek.

Honorary casket bearers will be Stephen Stonebraker, Spencer Mesick, Cody Tompkins, Patrick Mesick, Austin Grimm and Coleton Tompkins.

A general memorial fund has been established.

Reta Mary Fox was born Feb. 26, 1915, near North English on the farm, the daughter of Otto Lamont and Hazel Ruth (Kelley) Kutchera. She attended Gritter Creek School, North English High School and Cedar Rapids Business College.

She was briefly married to Walter Grimm.

She married William Fox Aug. 31, 1939, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua. She resided in Cedar Rapids, Deep River and in 1977, moved to North English. In 2005, she moved to Highland Ridge Presbyterian Home, Williamsburg.

She helped organize and start the Iowa County Historical Society and was the last remaining charter member of the Iowa Historical Society. She spent numerous hours volunteering and preserving Gritter Creek School. She was a member of the Iowa County Extension, the Millersburg Garden Club and the North English Christian Church. She enjoyed going to elder hostels, sewing, painting, quilting, playing cards, gardening and teaching her grandchildren about gardening and flowers.

Fox is survived by one son and his wife, Richard and Hilda Grimm, North English; eight grandchildren and their spouses, Thomas and Cheryl Grimm, Swanton, Vt.; Gloria and Tim Mesick, Bettendorf; Karla and Barry Lee, Sigourney; John and Dawn Grimm, Cedar Rapids; Michael and Pam Grimm, North English; Brenda and Chris Tompkins, Montezuma, and Kurtis Grimm and Kelly Grimm, both Iowa City; nine great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, in 1981; her parents; one sister, Billie Brower, and one brother, John Kutchera.

Patricia Evans, 79

Family services for Patricia A. Evans, 79, Williamsburg, were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 21, at Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Williamsburg. She died Friday, June 17, at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City.

The Rev. Craig Brown officiated at the service.

Burial was in Harrington Cemetery, Williamsburg.

A memorial fund has been established for Mercy Hospice Care Unit or Iowa City Hospice.

Patricia Anne Evans was born July 6, 1931, in Nashua, the daughter of Gurdon Curry and Margaret Alice (Troutner) Chandler. The family lived in Nashua when she was little, before moving to Williamsburg. She graduated from Williamsburg High School and went on to receive her teaching certificate.

She taught country school for one year and was the bookkeeper for Evans Sales Co.

She married Carl D. Evans April 22, 1950, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua. She was a former member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, Williamsburg. She enjoyed playing duplicate bridge and going to tournaments, bowling and golfing.

Evans is survived by her husband; one daughter and her husband, Nancy and Richard Bohrn, Iowa City; three sons and their wives, Richard and Julie Evans and Robert Evans, all Williamsburg, and Paul and Amy Evans, Austin, Texas; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Lorelee Brown, Fairfield, and one brother, Robert Chandler, Marshalltown.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Peggy Griffis; one son, Steve Evans, and one grandson, Calvin Evans.

Dorothy Marz, 92

Funeral services for Dorothy Marz, 92, Amana, were held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 20, at the Middle Amana Community Church. She died peacefully of natural causes Friday morning, June 17, 2011, at Colonial Manor of Amana.

Church elder Kristie Yoder officiated at the service.

Graveside services followed at the South Amana Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Amana Church Society or the Amana Heritage Society.

Dorothy Marz was born Feb. 26, 1919, in South Amana, the daughter of Herman and Mary (Setzer) Berger. She attended Amana schools. Following graduation, she was employed by various Amana businesses.

She married Louis Marz Nov. 12, 1949. The couple later divorced.

Residing many happy years in Homestead, she was the consummate homemaker. She took delight in her family and enjoyed baking, embroidery, quilting and gardening both vegetables and flowers. She displayed her faithfulness to God through stewardship to all living things and always welcomed people with a smile on her face and a sparkle in her eye. She was a member of the Amana Church Society, Homestead Welfare Club and the Amana Heritage Society.

Marz is survived by one daughter and her husband, Mary and Tom Burgher, Amana; one son and his wife, Dr. Mark and Marti Marz, Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren, Laura Simmonds and husband Keith; Andrew Marz and Liesel and Fritz Burgher; two great-grandchildren, Daniel and Anna Simmonds, and two sisters, Helen Hertel, Middle Amana, and Emma Johnson, Norwalk, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Frederick, Daniel and Adolph Berger, and two sisters, Christine Engelhaupt and Emilie Berger.

Sheryl Siek, 56

Funeral services for Sheryl A. Siek, 56, rural Blairstown, were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 22, at Grace Lutheran Church, Blairstown. She died Saturday, June 18, 2011, at Marengo Memorial Hospital following a brave battle with cancer.

The Rev. Mike Musick officiated at the service.

A memorial fund has been established.

Sheryl Ann Siek was born Nov. 19, 1954, in Grinnell, the daughter of Roger L. and Joan M. (Goodrich) Hall. She graduated from BGM High School in 1973.

She married Richard A. Siek Feb. 16, 1974, at Grace Lutheran Church, Blairstown. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church for nearly 40 years.

Her lifelong occupation was in the farming and livestock industries. For many years, she worked as a graphic designer. She traveled extensively with her husband and children to livestock shows across the country.

She also enjoyed fishing in Canada, folk art shows, morel mushroom hunting, gardening, cooking and spending time with her two grandsons.

She served as a junior advisor for both the Iowa Junior Simmental Association and the Iowa Junior Beef Breeds Association, served on the Iowa Beef Breeds Council and as president of the Iowa Simmental Association. She was a widely recognized, highly talented and dearly regarded cattlewoman.

Siek is survived by her husband; one daughter, Heather Siek, Des Moines; one son and his wife, Aaron and Abby Siek, Malcom; two grandsons, Owen Siek and Valek Shilling; her parents, Roger and Joan Hall, Malcom; one sister and her husband, Regina and Duane Hendrickson, Stanhope, and 11 nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Carla Hall, and her father-in-law, Henry Siek.
