Ottumwa woman dead in I-80 crash near Victor

An Ottumwa woman died and another person was injured following an accident involving a motorcycle on Interstate 80 southwest of Victor.

The accident, which killed 62-year-old Mary Beth Penne, happened just before 10:50 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3.

The Iowa State Patrol reported that Michael Muldoon, Ottumwa, was driving his motorcycle eastbound when the back tire deflated. Muldoon lost control of the motorcycle. Both Muldoon and Penne were ejected from the motorcycle.

Both people were taken to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City – Muldoon by ambulance, Penne by helicopter. Penne later died, according to the Iowa State Patrol.

The crash remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol. Several agencies responded to the scene.
